"Hau Kola"
Hello! Can you believe it...Summer is already here and we are going into
the 6 month of 2010 already! Time stands still for no one so you MUST
make the most out of every day. I know it's easier said than done but we
must all manage our time so we make every day count. Now I'm not just
speaking about making money, yes we must all make money but the things
I'm speaking about are the true treasures in our lives. Are we making
the most of our relationship with our spouses, a boyfriend or
girlfriend, our children, family members or even a total stranger? Are
we taking the time to truly appreciate this great earth and all the
blessings in it or are we so busy we just pass by it. If you're too
consumed with life than you will never see what I'm speaking of or
appreciate the true beauty that is all around us?
Yes, success is
important but if it was everything why do so many people who have it
are in reality miserable and empty on the inside? We watch the stories
play out everyday on our TV's as we hear of another tragic story of how
someone is destroying or has destroyed their life and at times even
their families. As we pursue the road to success we must keep everything
in balance and never forget the things that are most important. As we
let go of what we have been taught and learn to serve one another than
you will be served and get what you want. Our existence was never meant
to only be a life about us or for us only to be served. Those who serve
are some of our greatest leaders and most successful people not only in
their bank accounts but most important in their hearts, mind, and
spirit. "What is it to gain the whole world but to lose your soul."
One
of the most important lessons I have learned over the years is people
who truly serve are happy, content, and in a lot of cases very wealthy. I
have met many of these types of people over the years ranging from
every day people, many who have been very successful in their lives to
even Millionaires and even Billionaires and the zest for life comes from
serving. As I compose this commentary we just celebrated this past
Monday, Memorial Day, in which we celebrate and remember the men and
women of our armed forces who have paid the ultimate sacrifice. Many
wonder why anyone would want to go to Iraq or Afghanistan but our men
and women who wear the uniform do so proudly and want to serve our
country. Even though we may not agree with our politics right now in
Washington, DC but those offices were created to serve the people and
many have done it very well and not only acquired success but also the
type of success we all want, making a true difference not only in our
lives but also in the lives of others!
On many of my most
recent pro wrestling trips I have been able to be involved in
serving others, which in turn not only helped those I served but also resulted in the
end with blessings for my family and I. In our city just recently
we discussed, planned, and made a decision to hold a 5-day event within
our County that would impact our youth and adults towards pursuing a life of
excellence filled with making the right choices. The event I'm speaking of is thePower
Team.
We hosted the Power Team in our City of St. Petersburg, Florida on Wednesday, May 12th through Sunday, May 16th. The Power Team using their
gifts and talents through demonstrations of extreme strength drew
groups,
families and individuals from all walks of life, reaching our
community
with powerful, life-changing messages of hope, inspiration and
empowerment. As role models, the Power Team has been endorsed by over
100 government officials for their positive contributions to the lives
of
America's youth, having performed in over 30,000 schools and is ranked
as one
of the top school assemblies in the nation. Believing that Inspiration +
Motivation + Education = Academic Achievement and Personal Excellence. They attended 5 schools in our area during school assembly where they
tackled the tough issues of drugs, alcohol, violence, teen pregnancy,
peer
pressure, and suicide. Schools appreciated their ability to portray a positive message, having the right attitude along with interaction with their
audiences. During the evening hours from 7 to 8:30 pm the Power Team performed for 4-nights at Keswick Christian High School Gymnasium. Through us deciding to serve our community along with the heart of the Power Team to also serve many lives were touched and changed by their powerful messages. The greatest among us are not those who are served but those who serve others. There is a powerful thing that happens when we decide to help and serve others. Not only do we find a peace and a joy we did not know before but goodness continues to follow you every day and by giving of ourselves it is given unto us. Stay tuned for some Power Team pics and videos of our event.
As always, "Pilamia Yelo" Thanks and God Bless you!
