Lessons from the Campfire: Never Say Never

In the world of wrestling, and in life, the phrase “Never Say Never” holds a lot of weight. Many people, including wrestlers and everyday folks, believe only in what they can see and experience. But true faith is believing in things hoped for but not yet seen. Life and professional wrestling can change in an instant, and history has proven that.

Wrestling’s Biggest Example

Do you remember when WCW was at its peak, challenging WWF with the immense success of the NWO? For a time, WCW held the #1 spot in wrestling, but as the NWO’s popularity began to wane, WWF reclaimed the top position. Fans criticized WCW’s decisions, blamed Hogan and the NWO for its downfall, and called for Hogan’s retirement. Remember those days?

Then came the unthinkable. After months of conversations, Hulk Hogan made his return to WWF—this time bringing the NWO along with him. Fans who had once demanded Hogan retire were now tuning in to see his every move. Despite being nearly 50 years old, Hogan faced The Rock in what was billed as the biggest match of all time at WrestleMania. Two icons in the ring, and the crowd was electric.

At WrestleMania, despite The Rock’s immense popularity, the crowd’s chants for Hogan were louder. The match ended with a brilliant old-school moment: The Rock acknowledging Hogan’s legacy and inviting him to do his trademark post-victory poses. That moment turned Hogan from a heel to a fan favorite once again, bringing back the yellow and red Hulkamania. By the time Hogan appeared on Raw the next night, the crowd’s response confirmed that old-school wrestling was far from dead.

The Power of Change

So, what’s the lesson here? Never Say Never Again. Wrestling’s landscape can change overnight. A wrestler once considered past his prime can reclaim the spotlight, and a company thought to be unbeatable can fall. Similarly, a new organization or talent can rise and take the industry by storm. Nothing in this business is set in stone, and that’s what makes it so exciting.

Final Thoughts

I was just with Hulk Hogan at a special event, and as we discussed this very topic, he looked at me and said, “Old School, brother.” And he’s right. Old-school values and strategies still have a place in today’s wrestling world. Never underestimate the power of patience, persistence, and faith. Things can change in an instant, and when they do, those who are prepared and steadfast will rise to the top.

Keep an eye on NativeTatanka.com for updates on my journey and plans in the wrestling world. Remember, life is full of surprises, and the next big moment could be just around the corner. Thank you for your continued support, and as always:
