Tatanka in New Mexico: A Memorable Tour

Hau Kola! Hello to all the great fans of the wrestling world and especially to my serious Native American fans. I also want to give a shoutout to the #1 Internet site for news, ScoopsWrestling.com. My latest tour brought me to New Mexico, and as always, it was an incredible experience. The highlight of the tour was Gallup, New Mexico, a place that holds a special place in my heart.

For anyone reading this commentary, if you haven’t been to New Mexico, you need to go and experience its breathtaking beauty. The red rock formations in the mountains are stunning, creating a scene straight out of an old western movie. It reminds me of the days of John Wayne and, of course, my favorite historical figure, Geronimo. Looking at those landscapes, I couldn’t help but think about the history of those areas and wonder if those high mountains were once used by the Chiricahuas of the Apache Tribe, led by Geronimo, to scout General Crook’s cavalry in the late 1800s.

A Successful Tour Across New Mexico

This tour was organized by Vladimir Koloff Promotions, spanning four days across the state. We started in Albuquerque, then moved to Church Rock (Gallup), followed by Las Vegas, and ended in Santa Fe. Each night was a success, with Gallup standing out once again as the crowd favorite. Last year, I wrestled a Main Event match with Terry Funk in Gallup, drawing a crowd of 6,000 Native and Mexican Americans. This year, the attendance was just as impressive, with 4,000-5,000 fans showing up to support the event.

The card was stacked with incredible talent from across the wrestling world. Here was the lineup for the tour:

  1. The Patriot vs. Vincent (WCW)
  2. Doink (Steve Keirn) vs. Blue Meanie
  3. Ax (Demolition) vs. Curtis Thompson
  4. Vladimir Koloff (with Nikita as Manager) vs. Salvatore Sincere
  5. Navajo Warrior vs. Honky Tonk Man
  6. The Dudleys (not WWF) vs. PG-13
  7. Dan Severn vs. Kohler
  8. L.O.D. Animal and Curt Hennig (Mr. Perfect) vs. Public Enemy
  9. Bushwhackers vs. Ballards
  10. Tatanka vs. Disciple (WCW)

For an independent show, this card was loaded with talent from major companies. The fans were treated to 10 action-packed matches each night. The setting for the Gallup show was particularly memorable, held at Red Rock State Park, an outdoor arena surrounded by high red mountains. It was the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable night of wrestling.

A Warrior’s Battle

As I headed to the ring for my match against Disciple, the atmosphere felt electric. The setting, combined with the roaring support of my Native brothers and sisters, made me feel like a warrior charging into battle. My people surrounded me, giving their native cry for war, a sound that has become my trademark and a symbol of unity for all Natives.

Disciple attempted his usual NWO tactics, but the battle turned in my favor when I began my war dance and war cry. The energy in the arena was palpable as I connected with my people and felt their strength behind me. The match ended with a resounding Tomahawk Chop off the top rope, bringing Disciple’s challenge to an end. It was a moment of pride, not just for me, but for the thousands of Native fans who came to support me.

Gratitude and Future Plans

I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to all the fans across New Mexico, especially those in Gallup, for their incredible support. Vladimir Koloff Promotions will return next year with another spectacular show. If I haven’t yet made my move back to the big companies by then, I will gladly join the tour again to spend time with my Native people and fans.
